William Otis Edwards, 99, of Meridian, Mississippi, passed away the morning of Saturday, July 20, 2024, at Regency Hospital of Meridian.
Otis was born to Walter and Alma Edwards on April 28, 1925. When Otis became of age, he joined the United States Army and would go on the serve as a mechanic in World War II, stationed in Germany. After the Army, Otis met the love of his life, Edith, and they would begin their family and he would begin his career of truck driving.
Otis will be remembered by his family and friends as being a kind and giving man that always knew how to make you laugh. He loved to ride his four-wheeler, watch Westerns, and spend time with his loved ones.
Otis is survived by his children, Billy Edwards, Judy Todd, Keith Edwards (Cindy), and Allen Edwards; his grandchildren, Tisha, Stephanie, Steven (Ashley), Michael, Suzie, Jonathan, Amber (Steven), Britney (Terry), Amber (James), and Shiahlyn (Dakota); 21 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; along with his many cousins, friends, and neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Alma Edwards; his wife, Edith Edwards; his son, Eric Edwards; his siblings, Alvin, Annie, Gilmer, and Ernest; his grandson, Blake; and his nephews, Jerry and Raymond.
Visitation for Otis will be held on Friday, July 26, 2024, from 10-11am at Webb & Stephens Funeral Homes-Downtown. Funeral Services will begin at 11am in the chapel, with Bro. Gary Morris officiating the service.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to the nurses and staff of Regency Hospital and AccentCare Hospice for taking such great care of their father while he was in their care.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests for donations to be made in Otis' honor to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or to the charity of your choice.
The staff of Webb & Stephens Funeral Homes-Downtown is grateful for the opportunity to honor Otis and his memory, and to serve his devoted family during this time.
