William Thomas "Bo" Hurtt

     Graveside Services for William Thomas “Bo” Hurtt will be held Monday, June 10. 2024, at 1:00 pm at Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Kemper County.  Webb & Stephens Funeral Homes are entrusted with his arrangements.

     Bo, 83, was born on June 28, 1940, and went to be with God on June 6, 2024.  He passed at his residence after suffering from a stroke.

     He was raised in Kemper County, in the Frazier Grove Community of De Kalb.  He moved to Meridian and worked several jobs before he made Atlas Roofing (formerly Masonite) his career until retirement after thirty plus years.  Bo also served in the Mississippi Air National Guard (186^th Refueling Wing) at Key Field in Aircraft Maintenance.  

     Bo loved hunting, fishing, and growing his garden every year up until last year.  This year, due to his decline in health, he was not able to do so.  He was a member of Highland Baptist Church for many years and made many close friends.  Later in life, he was unable to attend church regularly due to his health problems.

     Bo is survived by his daughter, Carol Schulteis; his brother-in-law, Joe Byrd, Jr.; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.  He is also survived by his best friend, Jack Pace.

     He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Lila Elaine Weathers Hurtt; his parents, Adam B. and Omie (Turbville) Hurtt; and his sister, Joyce Hurtt Byrd.

     Carol would like to specially thank CenterWell Home Health and Compassus Hospice.  They cared for her mother very well last year, and they gave her daddy the same excellent care, and now they are like family to Carol.  She would also like to personally thank Jennifer Griggs, Jennifer Toole, and Vashti Houston from Servant’s Heart Homecare for showing such great love and care for Bo and herself during his illness.

     The staff of Webb & Stephens Funeral Homes-Downtown is grateful for the opportunity to honor Bo’s life and to serve his family during this time.
