Services for Mr. William Mayo will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at graveside, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Lee Hartley officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Mayo, age 93, passed away October 28, 2016 at Brookdale Retirement Center. He earned the nickname "Pie" because he loved to eat pies. Mr. Mayo was a Master Mason and Shriner. He joined the Army Air Corp before he graduated high school, after serving, he came back home and finished his education and then joined the United States Air Force and served another 30 years.
During WWII he was attached to the Third Army and went from Normandy to Germany during the war. After retiring from the Air Force he went back to work at Delco Remy and worked another 10 years before his "official" retirement.
He is survived by his daughter, Aby Lurline Mayo Weaver (Gary); Grandsons, Scott C. Kaderabek and Donald Weaver (Jenny Lyn); Granddaughter, Shauna Kay Fisher (Bradley); Great Grandsons, Quillan K. Kaderabek and Bradley G. Fisher,II; Great Granddaughters, Lauryn and Lacey Weaver; Brother and sister in law, Mr. and Mrs. Sid F. Curtis, Jr.; Nephew, Mr. and Mrs. S. Lee Curtis; and Nieces, Mr. and Mrs. William G. Steingruber and the Rita Ann Curtiss family.
