William R."Bob" Moore
Services for Mr. William R. "Bob" Moore will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Raymon Leake officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 10 - 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Moore died peacefully in his sleep in the early morning hours of May 14, 2018. He would have celebrated his 95th birthday on July 22. He was a World War II veteran, having honorably served in the Navy. He then had a distinguished 45 year career in the the insurance industry, first at Greater Mississippi Life Insurance Company, then at Mutual Savings Life. He served as agent, division manager, and vice president. Throughout his career, he was a leader of and mentor to many still in the insurance business. Mr. Moore was a member and deacon of State Boulevard Baptist Church for nearly 50 years. In 2001 he joined First Baptist Church, where he served again as a deacon. Throughout his life he was a man of character and strong faith and was inspirational to everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his son, William Frank Moore, Major General USAF (ret) and his wife Carol S. Moore, both of Tampa, Florida; and daughter Cathy Moore Phelan and her husband Rod of Dallas, Texas. He had three granddaughters, Dr. Rachel L. Moore, the Hon. Laurel Moore Lee, and Sarah Anne Moore; and one grandson, Dr. Charles R. Heflin. Mr. Moore was also blessed with nine great-grandchildren. Additionally he is survived by a special niece, Sue Brown. The family gives special thanks to Mr. Moore's devoted and loving caretaker for more than 12 years, Mrs. Ella Lard.
Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 60 years, Frankie Pace Moore; and his son, Dr. Joe Keith Moore.
The deacons of First Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Butch Gibson, Bobby Brown, Leslie Moore, and Paul Cummings.
