William Harrison Moss
Services for William Bill Moss will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Mediator, with the Revs. Helen Tester and Steve Owen officiating. Burial will be in the Old Marion Cemetery with Webb Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mr. Moss died Sunday, Jan. 3, 2010, at his residence. He served in the U.S. Navy and retired from the Federal Government, Department of the Navy, after 35 years of service. He received numerous commendations for his dedicated service and was presented the Length of Service Award by the chief of naval training. Mr. Moss was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Mediator, where he was a licensed lay reader and chalice bearer, a twoterm senior warden, a junior warden, treasurer and served on the Vestry. He was a licensed amateur radio operator and a skilled craftsman. Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Eileen Moss five children, Patricia Branton, Staci Jenkins and her husband, Adam, Teresa Maddox and David Hillhouse, all of Meridian, and Johnny Hillhouse of Hickory seven grandchildren, Christy Thasher of Birmingham, Ala. Lisa Cramblitt and her husband, Joey, of Tupelo, Miranda Hillhouse of Toomsuba, Morgan Hillhouse and Kyle Maddox, both of Meridian, and Luke and Blake Jenkins of Preston and five greatgrandchildren, Jake, Riley and Reece Thrasher, all of Birmingham, and Briget Hillhouse and Brian Todd Jr. of Toomsuba. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Spurlin Moss his parents, a sister and three brothers. The family requests memorials be made to the Church of the Mediator. Pallbearers will be Buck Thomas, Gene Damon, Bill Scaggs, Don Wade, Bob Widen and Bob Marsh. Honorary pallbearers will be the Rev. Osborne Moyer and Douglas Latham.
