Wilma Murdock

Wilma O'Gwynn Murdock 88, passed to her heavenly home on December 20, 2021, in Meridian, Mississippi. She was born on November 7, 1933, in Wayne County, Mississippi, the daughter of Louie O'Gwynn and Ethel Busby O'Gwynn.

She married Millard (Buddy) Murdock in 1961. When she and Sergeant Major Murdock retired from the Army, they made their home in Meridian. Aside from being a homemaker, she worked many years at The Playground Daycare where she was a favorite of the children, many who still kept in touch with her.

She attended First Assembly of God Church for many years. She loved going to her Senior Citizens meetings. She was a member of Woodman of the World where she made many friends. She also loved attending Gospel Concerts and Blue Grass Festivals with her friends. She never missed a chance to travel to the Smokey Mountains and made many trips there. If you knew her, you loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents Louie and Ethel O'Gwynn; her husband Buddy Murdock; her brother James O’Gwynn, and her sister Louise O’Gwynn.

She is survived by her son David Murdock of Lake Charles, LA; her sister June Rutledge of Monroe, La; several nieces and nephews, along with many cousins and friends.

Visitation will be December 27, 2021, 5-8 pm, at Webb & Stephens Funeral Home – North on Highway 39 next to Forest Lawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Funeral service will be December 28,2021 12 pm in the chapel at Webb & Stephens Funeral Home – North. Rev. Robert O’Gwynn and Rev. Tim Rutledge will be officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
