Winnie Russell Hill

Services for Mrs. Winnie Russell Hill will be held Saturday at 10 am at Webb Chapel with Rev. Chuck Fowler officiating. Burial will be in the New Zion Church Cemetery in Monticello, Mississippi with James F. Webb Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Hill, 97, of Meridian, passed away Thursday, October 06, 2011 in Grand Bay, Alabama while staying with her daughter in law. Born as Winnie Agnes Russell on November 2, 1913 in Lawrence County, she attended Copiah Lincoln Community College and earned an Associate Degree. Later she attended Mississippi Southern and earned a Bachelor and Maters Degree in Home Economics. She was a retired school teacher known as Winnie Agnes Wilson and taught at Kate Griffin and Northwest Jr. High Schools, and later taught in the job placement program at Meridian Community College. Mrs. Hill was a teacher and longtime member of First Baptist Church in Meridian and later a member of New Zion Church in Lawrence County.

She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Ann Ramage two sons, Thomas Woodrow Wilson, Jr. of Meridian, and Russell Earl Wilson of Madison six grandchildren and 13 Great grandchildren.

Honorary pallbearers will be Keith McCary, Dr. W. Paul Wilcox, Hartley Peavey, Scoot House, William David Holbrook, Dr. William W. Woods, III, Jerry Farmer, and Lee Cornett, Jr.
